1. To be registered as an Apprentice a formal agreement with Employer is to be signed, this agreement would then be recorded as such with a SETA (could be the Construction SETA). SETA Registration is critical to be Registered as an Apprentice.

2. The Training program is prescribed in the form of a Curricula and should be followed by the Employer. On-the-job experience should also be recorded and certified by an Approved Employer. If this did not take place, assisted by an accredited training provider, the route of RPL whereby the past experience is documented for approval is followed.

3. After all this as detailed above the student has to apply and pass the Trade Test to be a Qualified Plumber. The duration of the Plumber Training is a Minimum of three years.
